18:00 – Begrüßung & Vorstellung der Gastgeber (DIGINOMICS Group, BREMEN.AI Data Lounge & Data Science Center)
Dr. Michael Engel // Head of Data & AI Product Management // Volkswagen Financial Services
Michael Engel leads the Data & AI Product Management Team at Volkswagen Financial Services AG (VWFS). He manages a portfolio of innovative applications of data science and machine learning for mobility services and automotive finance. Before joining VWFS, he worked as a data strategy consultant at the Deloitte Analytics Institute. He holds a Ph.D. in economics and engages as a speaker, guest lecturer, and researcher in information systems and applied machine learning.
18:10 – Keynote: “AI Product Management”
Dr Engel will give an introduction into AI product management – a topic many companies struggle to succeed with. In this talk, he discusses a product-level approach towards creating value by using AI. It will be shown how product management concepts enable data science teams to frame the search for and implementation of ideas for innovation. Finally, our speaker will discuss complementary approaches specific for AI products.
The background of this talk is given by the lacking abilities of many companies to deploy AI technologies to generate real customer value and eventually, economic impact. The problem derives from either using a firm-level AI strategy or a mere technology based approach. A data science team, however, does not benefit from this in either way to maximize any short to medium-term profits.
The talk will take place as an online event via Zoom. A link will be provided after registration via Eventbrite. The recording will be published later on YouTube.
Die Veranstaltung wird gemeinsam mit der Diginomics Research Group und dem Data Science Center der Universität Bremen durchgeführt.
The Diginomics Research Group at the University of Bremen examines research questions relating to the digitization of labor, capital, and product markets. Our faculty has defined twelve research focuses, as part of which graduate students jointly investigate with their supervisors economic, moral, and psychological research questions with an emphasis on new digital markets.
The Data Science Center (DSC) is an interdisciplinary institute that acts as focal point for data-driven research and data science at the University of Bremen. Our goal is to strengthen data science in research, education, and application across all faculties as well as to advance scientific discoveries through cross-disciplinary collaborations.
